Who we are

Wholesome Cravings (wholesome-cravings.com) is a personal recipe and food content website run by Diana, based in the UK. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit or use this site, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. What information we collect

We collect information in the following ways:

• Contact form: When you use the contact form on this site, we collect the name, email address and message you provide, so we can reply to your enquiry.
• Newsletter sign-up: If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address so we can send you new recipes and updates.
• Recipe ratings: If you rate a recipe, we store your star rating together with a one-way scrambled code created from your internet (IP) address. The code can't be turned back into your IP address; it's only used so each person can rate a recipe once (and change their rating). Your browser also remembers your own rating for convenience.
• Recipe reviews: If you leave a review, we store the name and comment you enter with your star rating. Reviews are only published after we approve them, and your name is shown with your comment. You can ask us to remove your review at any time.
• Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (e.g. which pages are popular, how people found us, and general location and device information). This is collected automatically and does not identify you personally.
• Cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to enable this tracking. See the "Cookies" section below for more detail.

We do not have a checkout, user accounts, or payment system on this site, so we do not collect or store any payment or financial information.

How we use your information

• To respond to messages sent through the contact form.
• To send the newsletter to people who have subscribed. Every email lets you unsubscribe, or you can contact us to be removed at any time.
• To understand how the site is used, so we can improve content and site performance.
• To meet legal obligations, where applicable.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. This site uses cookies set by Google Analytics to collect anonymised usage statistics. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time — most browsers let you refuse cookies or alert you when a cookie is being set. Blocking cookies may affect analytics but won't affect your ability to browse the site or view recipes.

Third-party services

This site is built and hosted using the following third-party services, each of which may process data on our behalf:

• Netlify — hosts this website and processes contact form and newsletter sign-up submissions, stores recipe ratings and reviews, and site login for content management.
• Google Analytics — provides anonymised website usage statistics. You can find out more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/privacy.

These providers may process data outside the UK/EEA; where they do, they maintain their own safeguards and privacy commitments, which you can review on their respective websites.

How long we keep your information

Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, and are deleted periodically thereafter. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. Recipe ratings and reviews are kept for as long as the recipe is on the site, or until you ask us to remove them. Analytics data is retained in aggregated, anonymised form in line with Google Analytics' standard retention settings.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), you have the right to:

• Ask what personal data we hold about you, and request a copy of it.
• Ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Ask us to delete your data, where there's no good reason for us to keep it.
• Object to how we use your data, or ask us to restrict its use.

To exercise any of these rights, email wholesomecravings.uk@gmail.com. If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new tool or service. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date.
